What to do if the photinia does not sprout? Causes and treatment methods of no sprouting

The reason why the photinia does not sprout

Under normal circumstances, the larkspur sprouts in spring in March and April. If the plant is a mountain stump, it will sprout after a month and enter a stable growth period after three months. The weather is hot in June and July, and the plant can easily die from heatstroke.

If the Chinese photinia does not sprout, it may be due to factors such as excessive light, inappropriate water and fertilizer, and improper pruning. Pruning the branches at the wrong time or in the wrong place will cause the plant to fail to sprout.

How to deal with the problem that photinia does not germinate

1. The Chinese photinia can germinate within 10-20 days after planting. If it is pruned in winter, the wounds of the plant will heal slowly and the sap in the pruned parts will be lost. Therefore, before sprouting in spring, the growth advantage of the plant, that is, the end of the branch, should be removed. This will gather water and nutrients and promote the germination of the plant.

2. If the plant fails to germinate due to unsuitable soil, it is necessary to replace the soil with fertile, loose, breathable and water-permeable soil. The best soil pH value is between 5.5-8.0.

The maintenance of photinia is always after germination

1. Lighting

After the Chinese photinia sprouts, it should be moved to a scattered light environment to get more sunlight to ensure sufficient light, but the plant should not be exposed to excessive sunlight, otherwise the new buds will be sunburned.

2. Watering

The amount of water consumed by the photinia will be slightly more after it sprouts, so the amount and frequency of watering need to be increased during maintenance. When the climate is dry, more water should be sprayed to keep it moist.
