How to deal with the side buds of Zizhi white lotus

How to deal with the side buds of Zizhi white lotus

1. If you just want to maintain the plant shape

If you don't want the side buds that grow and you don't use them for reproduction and just want to maintain the shape of the mother plant, then when the side buds appear, you need to use tweezers, a knife, etc. to cut off the side buds directly, and be sure to pay attention after cutting to make sure the wounds dry in time. Otherwise it will easily affect the mother plant, so the repair work must not be taken carelessly.

2. Want to use it for reproduction

Some people like to use the side buds grown from the white lotus for reproduction. But don't rush to cut them off. Make sure to let it grow for a while before cutting them off for reproduction.

How to cut the head: First of all, we must choose the cutting position, which is usually a little below the leaves under the side buds. Then use the sterilized scissors or knife to cut off the side buds. After cutting, we must also remove some old leaves under the side buds, because these old leaves are easy to produce bacteria. Finally, the cut side buds must not touch anything, and they should be placed in a clean container to allow the cut to dry. After the wound has healed, they can be planted in pots.

3. Let it grow naturally

If you feel that it is fine for the side buds to remain on the mother plant, then there is no need to remove them. We let it grow naturally, so that the side buds can also grow bigger. However, if during its growth, you feel that some side buds affect its appearance, then we can cut them off slightly to allow it to maintain the beautiful growth direction of the side buds. It should also be noted that if side buds are left behind, they will be more susceptible to damage from certain diseases and insects, so prevention and control work must be done in this process. Once pests are found, they must be killed in time to prevent them from endangering its normal growth.
