What to do if the gardenia only grows buds but does not bloom

1. Specific reasons

When this happens, you should not blindly conclude that there is a maintenance problem. First of all, we need to see whether it is in the flowering stage, which is from June to August. However, due to various factors such as geography, the earliest ones will bloom in late May, and the latest ones will bloom in July. If it is not in bloom or has just entered the blooming period, then continue to take good care of it and it will bloom naturally in the future. If the buds have not opened yet, even though the flower is in the flowering stage or is already at the end of the flowering stage, then there is a problem and you need to do the following five things.

2. Solution

(1) Apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers: Starting from April, you should stop using nitrogen fertilizers and use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers instead. Basically, it is enough to do it once every half a month, and apply it three times in a row. Liquid fertilizer is best. Don't use too high a concentration.

(2) Adjust the light: Too strong or too weak light is not conducive to plant flowering. Therefore, sufficient diffuse light should be provided at ordinary times. After May, if there is too strong light, pay attention to shade.

(3) Proper water control: If there is too much water, it will be difficult for the plant to bloom. The amount of watering should be properly controlled before and after flowering.

(4) Adjust the soil: Plants are more likely to bloom in acidic soil. If the soil is alkaline, you should find a way to adjust it, such as using some ferrous sulfate.

(5) Proper pruning: If the pruning is improper or not done for a long time, the flower buds will not bloom easily. Some messy and diseased branches should be cut off to promote flowering.
