How many years does it take for apple trees to bear fruit?

Apple planting results after several years

Apples prefer a low-temperature, dry and well-lit growing environment. The annual precipitation in the planting area must reach 800mm and the average temperature must be 9-14℃. This crop can be planted in April and October. The main producing areas are China, the United States, France, Italy and other countries.

It takes about 4-5 years for apples to bear fruit from planting, and the lifespan of the plant can reach about 50 years. If it is propagated by grafting, it will bear fruit in 2-3 years. It takes about two years for potted apples to bear fruit.

Reasons why apples do not bear fruit

1. The site conditions of some apple orchards are poor, the organic matter content in the soil is low, and the pest and disease control measures are ineffective, which can also lead to a low fruit set rate of the plants.

2. If it is dry and rainy during the apple flowering period, the water content of the soil will decrease. Coupled with the low temperature, these external factors are not conducive to the flowering and fruiting of the plants.

Apple planting technology and key points

1. Soil preparation

Apples have relatively high requirements for soil. When planting, it is best to choose loose, fertile, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil, and add enough base fertilizer into it.

2. Planting

Generally speaking, the planting density of apples can be about 4*5 meters, and 33 plants per acre are enough. If it is a dwarf variety, it can be planted according to the row spacing of 3*3 meters.
