What soil is suitable for planting fortune trees?

Soil for fortune tree

The money tree likes acidic soil. Garden soil, humus soil, and peat soil are all acceptable. If it involves changing the soil later, it is necessary to disinfect it in advance. The soil only needs to have the two characteristics of being slightly acidic and loose, water-permeable and breathable.

The money tree can be grown with ordinary soil or nutrient soil. Nutrient soil is a specially configured soil that is more suitable for the growth of the money tree, while ordinary soil can be improved later by watering with acidic water.

How to prepare soil for fortune tree

1. Nutrient soil

A mixture of three parts garden soil, four parts humus soil, and three parts peat soil is needed as the cultivation medium. This soil not only has good drainage and air permeability, but is also rich in humus. Before planting the money tree, sufficient base fertilizer needs to be applied to the soil.

2. Culture soil

Mix one part of garden soil, one part of leaf mold, and an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer, and use them evenly. Do not use organic fertilizer as base fertilizer. The money tree does not need base fertilizer, and you can also configure it like this: choose one part of coconut coir, one part of garden soil, an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer, and an appropriate amount of fine sand, and then plant them.

Changing the soil for the fortune tree pot

1. Repotting

Generally speaking, the potted money tree should be repotted every 1-2 years, which should be done when it is taken out of the pot in spring, and necessary pruning of yellow leaves and weak branches should be done.

2. Choose potting soil

When repotting the fortune tree, it is best to choose a larger flower pot, which is conducive to the growth of the fortune tree's roots. The potting soil is preferably fertile and loose sandy loam, or it can be made of garden soil, river sand and sawdust in a ratio of 3:1:1. When preparing the potting soil, you can also use decomposed bean cake in the basin as base fertilizer.

3. Planting in pots

Plant the money tree in a new potting soil. Now spread a layer of soil at the bottom of the pot, then place the money tree upright in the middle of the pot, and slowly fill the pot with soil. Do not damage the roots and cause root infection.
