When is the right time to sow broccoli?

Broccoli planting time

Broccoli, commonly known as cauliflower, is native to Italy and is a common vegetable. The plant is mostly propagated by sowing. It can germinate 6-8 days after sowing and its growth cycle is about 80-90 days.

Broccoli seeds can be planted in March or July, twice a year, but the plant prefers a warm to cool climate, so the best time is still March.

Broccoli sowing method

1. Choose the soil

Broccoli does not have high requirements for soil. It prefers loose, breathable, slightly acidic sandy soil. Compost should be applied in advance before planting, and the soil should be kept in a semi-moist state.

2. Sowing

Sprinkle the processed broccoli seeds on the soil, then cover it with fine soil, keep the soil moist, and wait for them to germinate.

Tips and tricks for growing broccoli

1. During the seedling stage of broccoli, you need to pay attention to the temperature and humidity of the environment. If the temperature is too high, you must provide shade and cool it down in time, and water it appropriately to maintain humidity.

2. The use of nitrogen fertilizer should be controlled during the flower head growth period of broccoli, otherwise it will cause the plant to grow too tall. You can increase the application of phosphorus fertilizer and boron fertilizer appropriately, and apply foliar fertilizer during the forming period.
