Taboos on cultivating Xanthoceras sorbifolia in winter

Taboos on cultivating Xanthoceras sorbifolia in winter

Characteristics of plants

First of all, it has very good cold resistance and can survive in temperatures as low as 41 degrees Celsius, so temperature in winter is not a factor that we should pay special attention to. In addition, it has good drought resistance and can survive in places with only 150 mm of annual rainfall. However, it is very afraid of waterlogging and it is not easy for it to grow and develop normally in low-lying areas with poor drainage. It does require fertilizer, but not in winter. Also, it likes light very much, and if it wants to survive the winter safely, it will require more light. Also, it is afraid of wind in winter. Finally, it has low requirements for soil and has strong adaptability, but it needs to loosen the soil.

Taboos

Too much water: Generally speaking, this plant does not require too much water. Generally, it only needs watering during the growth and development period. Therefore, because it has very poor waterlogging resistance, you cannot water it too much in winter. However, you can water the plants once before the winter freeze to help retain moisture in the spring.

Too little light: We mentioned above that plants like light, especially in winter, so we must ensure sufficient sunlight. In winter, the days are short, so it is fine to receive full sunlight without taking any shading measures.

Not taking wind protection measures: Although this is a taboo, we cannot control the cold winds in winter. All we can do is plant more grass nearby to help block the wind. In addition, sandy soil is not suitable for the growth of this plant, so you should pay attention to this when choosing a planting site.

Fertilize casually: There is almost no need for fertilizer in winter. It can be applied in early spring before flowering.
