What are the cultivation methods and precautions for four-season plum blossoms?

Four Seasons Plum Blossom Cultivation Method

The four-season plum is a plant of the genus Vinca in the Apocynaceae family. It is commonly propagated by sowing, cuttings and tissue culture. The four-season plum likes a warm and sunny environment. The temperature between 20-33 degrees is most suitable for its growth. The winter temperature should not be lower than 10℃. It cannot grow in saline-alkali soil, but is suitable for growing in permeable and breathable soil.

Four-season plum blossoms can be cultivated with peat soil and garden soil. They should be placed in the sun at ordinary times, but in summer, attention should be paid to shading to avoid sunburn. Do not water frequently and control the amount of water. Water once every three to five days. Fertilize about once every ten days during the growing period, apply phosphorus fertilizer during the flowering period, and pay attention to timely pruning.

Watering method

When caring for the four-season plum blossoms, do not water them too frequently. Control the amount of water and avoid water accumulation, otherwise the roots will easily rot. Usually water them once every three to five days and keep the soil slightly moist. Control the water in winter and dry the soil, which is beneficial for the winter.

Fertilization method

During the growing period and bud formation period of the four-season plum blossom, fertilizer needs to be applied frequently. Adequate nutrients are needed for better growth. Generally, fertilizer is applied once every 10 days during the growing period, and more nitrogen fertilizer is used. During the bud formation period, more phosphorus fertilizer is applied. In the later stage, the flowers will be brightly colored and highly ornamental.

Pruning methods

During the growth process of the four-season plum blossom, it needs to be pruned reasonably, and the underdeveloped, overgrown, and diseased branches and leaves should be cut off in time to reduce unnecessary loss of plant nutrients and ensure sufficient nutrients inside the plant.

Precautions for cultivating four-season plum blossoms

If the four-season plum blossom is grown in a potted plant, it should not be watered too much. Too wet soil in the pot will affect its growth and development. Especially for plants that spend the winter indoors, it is best to strictly control watering and keep it dry, otherwise it will easily freeze and cause frostbite on the plants.
