How many years does it take for greenhouse cherries to bear fruit?

Introduction to greenhouse cherry cultivation

Greenhouse cherries were originally distributed in the tropical regions of America. They like hot weather and the suitable growth temperature is between 23-30 degrees. They have a certain degree of cold resistance and can withstand short-term low temperatures of minus 3 degrees, but the winter temperature is best kept above 5 degrees.

Greenhouse cherries are generally best planted from late August to mid-to-late October, and can live for more than 10 years. They are mainly produced in the area south of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi. Greenhouse cherry varieties include hairy-calyx greenhouse cherries, Indo-Myanmar greenhouse cherries, and southern Yunnan greenhouse cherries.

Greenhouse cherry planting results

Greenhouse cherries start to bear fruit three years after planting, and the average yield per plant can reach about 15 kilograms. They enter their peak production period in the fifth year. They are suitable for planting in loose, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. During the growth period, watering and fertilizing should be done well, and timely pruning and prevention of diseases and pests are also required.

Greenhouse cherries do not bear fruit

The main reason why greenhouse cherries do not bear fruit is due to lack of pollination. Because there are no bees indoors and no artificial pollination, they bloom but do not bear fruit. In addition, if fertilizer is not applied in time or there is too much water in the soil, it will also lead to no fruit.

Key points for greenhouse cherry cultivation

1. Greenhouse cherries need to strengthen the management of water and fertilizer, which can increase the nutrient accumulation of sweet cherry trees and promote the rapid formation of cherry trees. On the basis of applying sufficient base fertilizer, apply sufficient base fertilizer in September and October each year, apply fully decomposed organic fertilizer, superphosphate, urea, and borax, and water in time after fertilization.

2. When maintaining cherries in a greenhouse, temperature control is very important. Ventilation measures need to be taken. In cold weather, quilts and other coverings need to be covered. When the temperature is above 16 degrees, the greenhouse should be ventilated in time from 10 am to 5 pm every day.
