How to take care of newly bought geraniums

How to take care of newly bought geraniums

1. Temperature

It is best to keep the newly purchased geraniums at a temperature similar to that in the flower shop, generally around 15-20 degrees Celsius. If it happens to be a hot summer period, it is necessary to cool down by spraying water mist, blowing air, etc. In addition, it needs to be placed in a ventilated place so that it can fully absorb fresh air.

2. Repotting

The geraniums that have just been brought back are usually planted in plastic pots. You need to choose a pot of appropriate diameter based on the size and development condition of the plant itself. Note that bigger is not necessarily better. It is best to choose soil with good air permeability and water permeability.

3. Fertilization

Generally, there are dedicated people in flower shops to take care of the flowers, and appropriate amounts of fertilizers have been applied. In addition, the soil in the plastic pot has not been replaced for a long time. Rashly applying fertilizer at this time will cause fertilizer accumulation and excessive growth.

4. Lighting

The geraniums you just brought home must be exposed to sunlight for a long enough period of time and watered moderately. Otherwise, the internodes of geraniums will be too long, seriously affecting their growth, development and ornamental value.
