How to plant vine vegetable seeds

Planting time of vine vegetable seeds

The vine vegetable is generally planted from April to July each year. The temperature in the north is relatively low, so it is planted from June to August. Its seeds need to reach a temperature above 15 degrees to germinate. It has poor cold resistance, so it must be planted under relatively suitable temperatures.

How to plant vine vegetable seeds

1. Sowing method

When sowing vine vegetables, generally 3-5 seeds are sown in each hole. When raising seedlings and transplanting them, the method of sowing and thinning seedlings is adopted, and soil needs to be covered after sowing.

2. Fertilization and land preparation

The seeds of the vine vegetable have strong adaptability to the soil, are resistant to fertility, and are also resistant to waterlogging, so it can be cultivated in relatively poor land, and a large amount of fertilizer needs to be applied during planting.

3. Intertillage and weeding

In order to prevent the presence of weeds from affecting the growth of the vine, weeding is required when the ground turns white to promote the development of the root system and create a favorable environment for the healthy growth of the plant.

Precautions for planting rattan vegetable seeds

1. The seed coat of the vine vegetable is relatively thick, so it germinates slowly. If it happens to coincide with long-term low temperature and rainy weather, the germinating seeds will rot. Therefore, the seeds need to be soaked to germinate. Use warm water to soak the seeds for 1 day. When half of them turn white, they can be sown.

2. When harvesting vine vegetables, there should not be too many branches, and if there are too many side branches, they need to be pruned in time, otherwise the growth rate will slow down and the quality of the fresh vegetables will be poor.
