Pruning Dendrobium after flowering

The flowering period of Dendrobium is from March to June. After flowering, the dead flowers, old branches, branches that will not bloom, and diseased branches should be cut off to allow it to grow better.

The flowering period of Dendrobium is three to six months. After the flowering period, the withered flowers need to be cut off, and then the plant body shape should be adjusted, and some branches that grow disorderly should be cut off. When pruning, pay attention to the balance of the plant on the left and right, and keep some old branches at an appropriate length so that the old branches can grow side buds.

If you find that the branches of Dendrobium are growing longer during the growing season, you can maintain the overall beauty of the plant by topping it and pruning the overly long branches, making the Dendrobium plant appear in a dwarf shape. This is conducive to the concentration of nutrients and can increase the number of flowers.

Reasons why Dendrobium does not bloom

There are usually two reasons why Dendrobium does not bloom: one is that the plant is still in its young stage and has not grown to the conditions for flowering; the other reason is usually that the maintenance place we provide is not good, or the management work is not done well.
