Peach planting area

Yellow peach prefers soil with a pH close to neutral, especially a pH between 6.5-7.5, a soil layer more than 80 cm thick, and a groundwater level below 1 meter. Loam rich in organic matter is best.

Yellow peaches are suitable for growing in a wide area. In my country, they are mainly distributed in North China, East China, Central China, Northwest China, Northeast China and other places. Among them, the more famous places include Dangshan yellow peaches in Anhui, Dalian yellow peaches, Wutai yellow peaches, etc.

Yellow peach planting conditions

Yellow peach prefers a dry and cool climate and is easily damaged by frost at temperatures between -20 and -22°C. Some varieties can withstand temperatures as low as -24°C, and are also easily damaged by frost at temperatures below 0°C before flowering.

Most varieties of yellow peach trees can produce fruit on their own, but some varieties still need to be matched with pollination trees. Yellow peach trees sprout in early March, bloom in early April, and the fruits mature in July and August. The fruit growing period is about 105 days.

Key points of yellow peach planting and management

1. Grafting management

The cultivation method of yellow peach is usually based on grafting of rootstock seedlings. Hairy peach is a common rootstock variety. After the peach pit is stratified, the kernel is removed to stimulate the sprouting of young shoots. The sowing time of yellow peach is usually chosen in late March in spring. After sowing the seeds, it is necessary to strengthen the management of water and fertilizer to improve the survival rate.

2. Fertilizer management

During the 1-2 year period of newly planted yellow peach seedlings, the management of water and fertilizer should be strengthened, and fertilization should be applied in small amounts and multiple times to meet the growth needs of the yellow peach seedlings.

3. Watering amount

Water the peaches once when they sprout, once when they bear fruit, and once half a month before harvest. But be careful not to allow water to accumulate, and drain water in time if there is water accumulation.
