Introduction to Sunflower Seed Growth Sunflower seeds like warmth and are cold-resistant, and are not very sensitive to sunlight. The main production area of Chinese sunflower seeds is Inner Mongolia, and they are also produced in Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Hebei, Shandong and other places. Sunflower seed growth cycle Sunflower seeds have a short growing period and can be planted in all seasons, mainly in summer and winter. Its growing period refers to the number of days from germination to seed maturity, which is generally more than 85-120 days. Sunflower seed growth rate It usually takes 35-50 days for sunflower seeds to bud from germination, and 28-35 days for summer sowing. It usually takes about 20 days from bud to flowering, and 6-9 days from the opening of ligulate flowers to the opening of tubular flowers. It usually takes 25-55 days for spring sowing and 25-40 days for summer sowing from flowering to maturity. Sunflower seed growth cycle management If large sunflowers are densely planted, the yield per acre of edible sunflowers is generally around 150-200 kilograms, and the yield per acre of oil sunflowers is around 200-250 kilograms. Some high-yield sunflowers can reach around 600 kilograms. Temperature management: Sunflower seeds are resistant to low temperatures. They begin to germinate at temperatures above 2°C, can germinate and take root at 4-5°C, and can emerge when the ground temperature reaches 8-10°C. As long as the temperature is not lower than 10°C during the growth period, they can grow normally. Fertilization management : Seed fertilizer should be applied during the seedling stage of sunflower seeds, and topdressing should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer, supplemented by potassium fertilizer. You can choose urea, potassium chloride and other spent or decomposed human feces, urine, plant ash, etc. Spray zinc, copper, manganese, and molybdenum solutions on the leaves, and spray nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium solutions after flowering. |
