How long is the growth cycle of melon?

Introduction to Melon Growth

Melons mostly grow in an environment with plenty of sunshine and little rain. Northwest China is the most important melon production area in my country. At present, a number of new high-quality melon production areas have also emerged in areas adjacent to major cities such as the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin area, Shandong Peninsula, and Hainan Island.

Melon growth cycle

The early-maturing thin-skinned melons only bear fruit for more than 20 days, while the late-maturing thick-skinned melons bear fruit for 70-80 days. Melons have strong heat tolerance and strong root absorption capacity. They like light and need at least 10 hours of sunlight every day.

Melon growth cycle

Muskmelon grows fast, showing the characteristics of slow growth in the early stage and fast growth in the middle and late stages, and absorbs very little soil moisture and nutrients. The growth cycle can be divided into four stages: germination, seedling, vine extension, and fruiting.

Melon growth cycle management

The melon yield per mu is 1500-2000 kg, and high-quality varieties can produce 2500-3000 kg. It is best maintained in an environment of 25-35 degrees. Chilling damage will occur when the temperature is below 7 degrees. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers must be continuously supplied during the growing period.
