Cultivation methods and precautions of Impatiens

Cultivation methods and precautions of Impatiens

1. Soil

Impatiens is suitable for fertile, moist and loose soil. It is best to prepare some slightly acidic soil mixed with sand.

2. Watering

During its growing season, you need to water it in time to ensure that the soil is moist, especially in the summer when you need to increase the amount of watering, but there should be no accumulation of water. If there is too much rain during the rainy season, you need to reduce watering and drain the water in time.

3. Lighting

It needs to be exposed to scattered light for about 4 hours a day. When the sun is strong in summer, it needs to be shaded to avoid burning the leaves.

4. Temperature

The most suitable temperature for Impatiens to grow is 16-26℃, and the lowest temperature should not be lower than 10℃. Certain warming measures should be taken in winter to avoid frostbite.

5. Management

It is necessary to loosen the soil and weed it in time to prevent weeds from absorbing its moisture. It should be watered appropriately when it is relatively dry. When the seedlings grow to about 30 cm, the old leaves can be cut off.

6. Notes

1. Pests and diseases: Impatiens generally rarely suffers from pests and diseases. If the temperature is relatively high, powdery mildew will occur. At this time, it is necessary to spray 800 times diluted 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder for prevention and control.

2. Flowering period control: If you want to delay the flowering period, you can sow in July, or you can pinch the seeds and remove the early-opening buds to allow them to continue to expand. Also pay attention to preventing diseases and pests.
