Jasmine flowers are white and fragrant, and they can bloom in multiple seasons throughout the year, so many people grow them. However, there are also many novice potted plant growers who always have trouble growing jasmine. So how do you grow jasmine in a potted plant? What is family raising? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Pot soil selection It is recommended to use a pot with a diameter of 15-20 cm for home potted jasmine, preferably a clay pot or a purple clay pot. The soil needs to be rich in organic matter and have good water permeability and ventilation properties. You can use a mixture of garden soil, compost, river sand or rice husk ash. 2. Light temperature Jasmine likes light and warmth, and the suitable temperature for its growth is 25-35℃. However, it does not like strong light, so in the summer when the temperature is usually above 35℃, it needs to be shaded from the sun, and in spring and autumn, it needs to be moved outdoors for full sunlight. It is best to move it indoors after the winter frost and place it on the windowsill in a well-lit location. 3. Scientific watering Jasmine is not drought-tolerant, and the soil in the pot should not be too dry. It must be kept moist. It is best to spray water on the leaves frequently to increase the moisture. But jasmine is afraid of waterlogging. In the rainy season, the water in the pot or planting site must be removed in time. 4. Fertilization points Jasmine likes fertilizer. The high temperature season in midsummer is the peak period of jasmine growth. It needs heavy fertilizer, especially organic fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, such as decomposed sesame paste residue, superphosphate, compound fertilizer and multi-element flower fertilizer, twice a week. Households can use kitchen scraps and black alum to ferment liquid fertilizer. Note that the principle of applying small amounts of fertilizer frequently should be followed. 5. Reasonable pruning Jasmine grows vigorously, so proper pruning is very important. Normally, old jasmine branches should be removed in winter to conserve nutrients and allow more new buds to grow. After jasmine begins to bloom in large numbers in summer, the withered branches should also be pruned back because jasmine flowers grow at the top of the branches. After this treatment, the jasmine will grow more vigorously and have a longer lifespan. 6. Pest and disease control Pay attention to maintaining a good ventilation environment, do a good job of plant pruning, and avoid branches and leaves being too dense or moist, otherwise it will easily induce various diseases and pests. You can spray Benomyl or Thiophanate regularly to prevent leaf spots. If you find red spider mites, aphids and scale insects, you should clean and spray them in time. In general, jasmine prefers a warm, humid and sunny environment. When caring for jasmine in potted form at home, you must provide careful care and management according to the habits and characteristics of the jasmine in different growth stages, so that your jasmine will grow very healthy and full of vitality.
