Golden bean seed sowing method

Golden bean seed sowing method

Golden bean seed sowing time

If the climate temperature is not reached, the sprouts will easily be frozen, so golden bean seeds are suitable for sowing in spring, around February or March.

As long as the soil is kept moist, the golden bean seeds will sprout out of the soil in 4 to 5 days and grow neatly and vigorously.

Because golden beans are a subtropical crop, it is best to sow them in the third month of the lunar spring. It is not suitable to sow them in summer.

Golden bean seed sowing method

1. Prepare a wooden box or a tray to hold loose loam or a planting breeding bag. It is recommended to use a planting breeding bag so that you can directly plant it in a pot later.

2. Level the soil and water it thoroughly, sprinkle fine coal ash about 0.5 cm thick, take out the germinated seeds and sow them evenly in rows, then cover the seeds with 0.5 cm of fine coal ash or sterilized loam, water them once and keep them moist.

Seed treatment

After picking the mature golden beans, you need to manually remove the seed coat to leave the white seeds. Rinse the pectin and dry them in a well-ventilated environment. If you need to sow in spring, dry them in a fresh-keeping bag and put them in the refrigerator to make the seeds dormant.

Direct sowing in winter does not require preservation. Before sowing, you can soak the seeds in streptomycin solution for a few minutes to kill the seeds, which will prevent them from rotting in the soil and increase the germination rate.

Seed germination

1. Peel off the inner and outer seed coats of the golden bean seeds and sow them directly. The golden bean seeds will germinate in 8 to 10 days, and the germination rate is 95% to 100%.

2. When peeling off the inner and outer seed coats of the seeds, be especially careful not to damage the seeds. Put them in a rice tray lined with absorbent paper, cover with absorbent paper to keep them moist, water 3 to 4 times a day, maintain 25 to 30 degrees Celsius, and the radicle will grow in about 4 to 5 days.

3. Take out the germinated seeds and sow them evenly in rows. Then cover the seeds with 0.5 cm of fine coal ash or sterilized loam. Keep them moist. They will germinate in about 4-5 days and grow neatly and vigorously.

Seed germination

1. Covering and shading: As the seedlings continue to emerge, the time of covering and shading should be gradually reduced. If it is not removed in time, it will affect the normal growth of the seedlings.

2. Watering: After the golden beans emerge, the frequency of watering and sprinkler irrigation should be appropriately reduced to allow the soil to alternate between dry and wet to promote the growth of lateral roots and enhance the ability of seedlings to adapt to the environment. However, long-term drought and humidity should be prevented. Excessive dryness will cause the death of seedlings. When it is too wet, there is a lack of air in the substrate. In drought, spray 1-3 times a day, and in moisture, spray once every 4-5 days.

3. Thinning and replanting: Thinning and replanting should be carried out when golden beans grow 2-4 true leaves. Thinning and replanting should be carried out at the same time. At this time, the root system of the seedlings has just grown lateral roots, and it is easier to remove the seedlings. When replanting, dig a small hole in the container with the depth consistent with the root system of the seedlings to prevent death due to water loss or a decrease in the survival rate of transplanting. Watering after replanting is conducive to the resumption of growth of the seedlings.
