How to water peonies, doing these two things well is the key!

The basic characteristics of peony:

It likes sunlight, is relatively drought-tolerant, and has a thriving root system.

Watering principles for peony:

Water thoroughly when dry.

The meaning of dry and water thoroughly:

If there are cracks of different sizes in the soil in the flowerpot, it means it is completely dry. However, you need to loosen the soil before watering to seal all the cracks. Then water it several times and observe the small holes under the flowerpot. If any water comes out, it means it is watered thoroughly.

Dry identification method:

If you want to know whether the soil in the pot is completely dry, you can't judge it alone. Use a small wooden stick to tap the outside of the pot. If only the lower part of the outside of the pot makes a muffled sound, it means that the soil in the pot is short of water and may need to be watered. If the middle part of the outside of the flower pot makes a muffled sound, it means it is not completely dry.

Watering precautions:

The roots of peony are deep in the soil and can absorb moisture from the deep soil; so even if the surface of the soil in the pot is already dry, you don't need to water it yet. However, if it is too dry, it will also affect its normal growth, such as the flower color will not be bright, the flowers will be small and there will be fewer of them.

It is not possible to customize the same watering time and frequency for all plants. Different breeding environments and different geographical locations will naturally result in different watering methods. but

It is particularly important to water the peony before and after its flowering period and before winter. Be sure to ensure sufficient water, but no water accumulation. When winter comes, water the plants once before covering the soil.
