How long is the growth cycle of star anise?

Introduction to Star Anise Growth

Star anise prefers a humid and warm environment and is distributed in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Zhejiang and other provinces.

Star anise growth cycle

The growth cycle of star anise is at least 3-4 years and at most 5-8 years. It is a subtropical tree species that prefers a cool climate and is suitable for planting in deep, fertile, loose, well-drained, slightly acidic sandy loam. It is intolerant to barrenness and is afraid of waterlogging.

Star anise growth rate

The growth process of star anise mainly goes through the seedling stage, juvenile stage, middle-young and early fruiting stage, peak fruiting stage and aging stage.

Star anise grows very fast, especially in the seedling stage, growing about 40-50 cm a year, and then the growth rate will slow down.

Star Anise Growth Cycle Management

Star anise grows vigorously and has a large output, generally maintaining at more than 100,000 tons.

Temperature management: Star anise likes a warm environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees. The temperature in winter needs to be above 10 degrees. Short-term light frost has no major impact on the growth of the plant, but places with snow have a great impact on its growth.

Fertilization management: Base fertilizer can be applied when planting star anise, and topdressing is needed in time during the growth period, mainly applying fertilizer to promote flowering and fruiting. Fertilization is also needed before wintering to supplement nutrients and improve cold resistance.
