How to peel the freshly picked gourd? Should you steam the gourd before peeling it?

1. Peeling method

1. Dry the skin: Before peeling the gourd that was just picked that year, you need to place it in a well-ventilated, semi-shaded place without strong light for a while to dry the moisture on the surface.

2. Blanch the skin in hot water: Before peeling the skin, you can blanch it slightly in hot water. This makes it easier to peel. But please note that you only need to blanch it in hot water, there is no need to cook it.

3. Scrape the skin with bamboo strips: In order to prevent metal products from scratching its surface, it is recommended to use bamboo strips to scrape the skin. Use a bamboo stick to scrape off the wax on the surface in one direction.

4. Wash and dry: After scraping the skin, you need to put it in cold water with a small amount of baking soda to wash it. This will remove any remaining wax from the surface. After washing it, put it in a place without strong light and with good ventilation to dry in the shade.

2. Precautions

1. When to peel: The gourds just picked contain a lot of water, so it is not advisable to peel them immediately, otherwise they will easily wrinkle. You need to put it in a cool place to dry, and wait until its skin turns slightly yellow before starting to peel it.

2. Cannot be dried in the sun: Gourds that have just been picked or gourds that have just been peeled cannot be placed in the sun to dry. Because sunlight may cause their skin to shrink, affecting their ornamental value.
