Cultivation and management of strawberries in solar greenhouse

Cultivation and management of strawberries in solar greenhouse

Strawberry is a very popular fruit . It is native to South America and is widely cultivated in various parts of China and Europe. Nowadays, strawberries are generally grown in greenhouses. Here we will introduce the cultivation and management of strawberries in a solar greenhouse.

1. Topdressing management

The first top dressing is when the seedlings grow 4 true leaves after the planting, apply 15 kg of compound fertilizer per 667 m2, and then top dressing every 20 days. From the initial flowering period to the fruit harvest period, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are mainly used, with 10 kg of diammonium phosphate and 10 kg of potassium sulfate applied per 667 square meters. At the same time, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and borax are sprayed once every 10 days or so.

2. Watering management

Watering should be done by drip irrigation under the membrane to lower the air temperature in the greenhouse and increase the soil temperature. The relative humidity of the air in the greenhouse should be around 70%. During the entire growing period of the strawberry, the overall condition should be "wet but not waterlogged, dry but not drought".

3. Temperature management

Strawberries have very strict temperature requirements. Indoor temperatures that are too high or too low will affect strawberry growth and yield, so temperature management must be strengthened. Temperature requirements during the growing period: 20~28℃ during the day, 8~15℃ at night; flowering period: 20~25℃ during the day, 8~10℃ at night; fruit expansion period and harvesting period: 18~25℃ during the day, 5~8℃ at night.

4. Lighting management

The short daylight hours in winter and insufficient light are an important factor restricting the growth of strawberries in solar greenhouses. Supplementary lighting is an important management measure. Reflective film can be hung on the back wall; use greenhouse film with good light transmittance, clean the dust on the film every 20 days or so, install 100W incandescent lamps in the greenhouse, with a height of 1.5m from the ridge surface and a lamp spacing of 3m. Irradiate for 4 to 5 hours before lifting or covering the curtain to increase the lighting time of strawberries and meet the lighting requirements.

5. Plant management

During the growth and development of strawberries, old and yellow leaves will appear. They should be removed in time to reduce nutrient consumption. During the growth process of strawberries, runners will also emerge, which will consume the nutrients of the mother plant, affect the differentiation of flower buds, and reduce the yield, so they must be removed in time. In the management of strawberry flowers and fruits, it is necessary to thin out the flowers and fruits to reduce nutrient consumption and increase fruit yield and quality. During the flowering period, many weak and small flowers will grow and should be removed in time. The strawberries grown in the solar greenhouse are airtight and poorly ventilated, so auxiliary pollination is required. Bees can be used for pollination, with a box of bees placed in each shed.

6. Pest and disease control

In the prevention and control of strawberry diseases and pests, prevention should be done in advance to control the occurrence of diseases and pests. Root rot should be controlled with 600 times diluted 58% metalaxyl mancozeb or 50% carbendazim. Powdery mildew can be easily controlled with 1000 times diluted 20% triadimefon or 1000~1500 times diluted 30% etheroxystrobin. Gray mold can be controlled with 1000 times diluted 50% procymidone or 500~1000 times diluted 10% polyoxin. Red spider mites can be controlled with 5000 times diluted 18% avermectin or 34% spiroclofen.
