Introduction to Pecan

Pecans are thin-shelled pecans, also known as American pecans, long pecans, and longevity fruits. They are plants of the Juglandaceae family and the genus Carya. Pecan Planting Conditions

Pecans need to grow in places with relatively high temperatures and a certain degree of humidity. They can also adapt to low temperatures and will not be harmed even in an environment of minus 15 degrees.

Pecan Growing Climate

Pecans prefer a warm and humid environment, with an annual average temperature of 15.2 degrees. The highest temperature they can withstand is 41.7 degrees. They are relatively cold-resistant and will not be harmed by frost even at minus 15 degrees.

Suitable areas for growing pecans

Pecans are suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained, humus-rich gravel loam, especially in oily black soil and yellow clay soil developed on limestone, and yellow clay soil developed on sandstone, slate and shale. Red soil and sandy soil are not suitable for growth.

Pecans are distributed in areas between 26 and 42 degrees north latitude. They are native to North America and are cultivated in Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and other provinces in my country.

Pecan planting time

The best time to plant pecans is from February to March in spring, the flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from July to November. The temperature and humidity in spring are suitable for seed germination, and the plants can take root quickly.

Benefits of Pecan Planting

Pecans have high economic benefits, with an average yield of 200-300 kilograms per mu, about 100 yuan per kilogram, and a profit of about 20,000 yuan per mu. The Anhui Provincial Government has introduced a support policy, with the government providing 3,000-4,000 yuan in support for every acre of thin-shell pecans planted. The province has now developed nearly 300,000 acres of thin-shell pecans, and its development prospects will surely become broader and broader.
