How to prolong the flowering period of lotus

How to prolong the flowering period of lotus

1. Suitable temperature

This flower likes warmth and usually begins to sprout at around eight to ten degrees, and the underwater roots begin to grow at about fourteen degrees. Since it is a heat-resistant plant, it will not be a problem even if the weather is over 40 degrees.

2. Apply more potassium fertilizer

We all know that this kind of fertilizer is very important for its flowering during the flowering period and can help prolong the flowering period. As long as you use some K-rich fertilizers in the early stage of its flowering to provide it with sufficient nutrients, you can extend the blooming stage and make the flowers look bright and colorful.

3. Soil requirements

The soil used for growing this plant should be acid-base neutral soil. It is best to use lotus pond soil or rice field soil. This kind of soil is often very rich in nutrients, but do not use industrially polluted soil.

4. Cultivation container

Since this type of plant is too tall after its growth period, it is very important to choose a suitable container. Glazed pots, porcelain pots, purple clay pots, etc. are ideal for planting it, but the small holes at the bottom of the pot should be blocked with cement sand to prevent water leakage.

5. Accept light

The chosen planting location should be one that receives seven to eight hours of sunlight a day, so as to better prolong the flowering period and allow it to bloom continuously.
