How to grow Astragalus

How to grow Astragalus

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: 15 to 25 degrees is more suitable. During its growth and breeding periods, it can be kept within this range, which is more suitable. In addition, it has good cold resistance and can basically survive the winter on its own if grown in southern areas.

2. Light: Astragalus is a plant that prefers sunlight, so it is best to provide good sunlight conditions when it is growing fast and blooming. However, try not to have too strong light. Especially in summer, try to provide some shade.

3. Watering: Sweet clover prefers a humid climate, and wild sweet clover also grows in relatively humid places. Therefore, in order to meet its requirements, try to supplement sufficient water, especially in drier areas.

4. Fertilization: If the astragalus is planted on a large scale, fertilization can be concentrated. Generally speaking, superphosphate is the fertilizer used.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: The commonly used method is sowing, and it is sown over a large area. The best time to breed is from late September to early October. Before sowing, it is best to dry the seeds first, then put them in salt water and remove the unsuitable seeds. After choosing a good location for sowing, sow the seeds and then spray them to avoid making them too dry.

2. Pruning: Normally, you can prune its branches, leaves and flowers, especially when it is grown as an ornamental plant. Pruning of its branches and leaves can be done in spring, trimming the dense and dry branches and leaves, leaving only the relatively strong branches. After flowering, you can trim off the remaining flowers.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Diseases: For astragalus, diseases are most likely to occur in spring. The main disease that occurs is "sclerotinia disease", which requires disinfection with lime powder, and the diseased plants must be cleaned up and the water must be drained in time.

2. Pests: There are many types, such as "thrips", "leaf miners", "aphids", etc., and insecticides such as imidacloprid can be used.

IV. Other issues

1. Flower language: Astragalus also has its unique plant culture. Its flower language is "happiness", which has a relatively good meaning. Therefore, it is also more popular.

2. Toxicity: There are poisonous varieties of Astragalus and non-toxic varieties, which need to be distinguished before planting.
