Orange tree seedling planting method

Orange tree seedling planting method

Orange is a sweet and juicy fruit and a very popular fruit in the market. It is very good whether you grow it to eat or to sell it. Here is how to plant orange tree seedlings .

1. Plot selection

When cultivating orange seedlings, you should choose loose, fertile land with good drainage and ventilation. Before planting, deep plow the soil and apply urea as base fertilizer to promote the growth of orange seedlings.

2. Dig a hole and plant

After land preparation, dig a hole in the soil with a depth of about 60 cm. The orange seedlings must also be pruned first, and the roots that are not growing well must be pruned. Finally, they should be placed in the planting hole to allow the roots to stretch out. After the seedlings are straightened, they should be filled with soil and finally watered to help them take root.

3. Water and fertilizer management

Within the first month after cultivation, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer needs to be applied every 7 days to promote growth. Orange saplings have a high demand for water, but their roots are not tolerant of watering. They can be watered every 3 days in spring and autumn, once every half a month in winter, and once a day in summer. This will ensure that the orange tree seedlings have adequate water.

4. Lighting management

Make sure your orange tree gets plenty of light. Plant it in a sunny place and let it receive full-sun care. In the hot summer, the light is strong and it needs appropriate shade.

5. Intertillage and weeding

Weeding is mainly carried out in the seedling stage. Generally, through weeding, the soil permeability is improved and the immunity of fruit trees is enhanced. In order to make the orange seedlings grow better, fruit farmers till the soil every year to improve the looseness of the soil and allow the young trees to obtain more nutrients. The best time to plant loose soil is in autumn. The tillage depth is about 15cm. If you encounter a hot and dry season, you can use straw to moisturize the tree tray if it does not affect the root growth of the young tree.

6. Plastic surgery

The main task in the seedling stage is to cut off messy branches and leaves. Before the orange tree seedlings sprout in spring, the side branches, long branches and weak branches of the trunk from the ground to 20cm are cut off. When the branches grow to 5-10cm, you can select trees that are strong and evenly distributed. The four directions are staggered to ensure the tree's balance. In May and August, ropes, bamboos, etc. can be adjusted to correct the shape of the tree to ensure the roundness of the entire crown.
