How to plant orchids in pots

Preparation before repotting

The quality of potting is directly related to the growth of orchids and should never be taken lightly.

Apply a thin layer of fertilizer 5 to 6 days before transplanting the plants. This will help replenish the plants' nutrients after transplanting and speed up their recovery.

Do not water the orchid 2 to 3 days before repotting to ensure that the soil in the pots is dry to avoid damaging the orchid roots and flower buds. When dividing the pots, do not pull them hard. Instead, tap the pot walls gently to make it easier for the soil to get out of the pots.

disinfect

After removing the orchid from the pot, shake off some of the soil and use sterilized scissors to cut off the remaining leaves and roots.

Then grab the roots with your hands and separate them forcefully without damaging the leaves.

After dividing the clumps, prune the roots again to cut off the diseased roots and old roots hidden in the middle.

After pruning, soak it in 1:800 times disinfectant such as carbendazim or methyl thiophanate for half an hour. Rinse in clean water. Place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for one to two hours. When the orchid root turns slightly white, apply charcoal ash or sulfur powder to the cut of the orchid to prevent infection.

Basin

Orchids in pots are like people living in rooms, and they should be comfortable and pleasant.

First of all, you need to prepare flower pots according to the size and quantity of the seedlings, and avoid using large pots for small seedlings.

Use one hand to support the orchid plant and the other hand to fill the soil and compact it, one plant per pot. After placing the orchid, gently shake the orchid pot so that the orchid roots have some contact with the planting material.

Maintenance after potting

Maintain according to the actual situation. If there is some moisture in the soil, let the seedlings grow slowly for three or four days, and then water them thoroughly. This will be more conducive to the recovery of the orchid incision.

There is no need to spray water on newly planted orchids. Place them in a cool and ventilated environment for 7 to 10 days, and then switch to normal maintenance.
