Rose cuttings

Rose cuttings

Rose cutting method

Tool Preparation

Before propagating rose cuttings, you need to prepare tools first, including tools for cutting roses, tools to promote rooting, cutting media and containers, etc. It usually includes cuttings, cuttings, pruning scissors and blades. The medium can be a mixture of perlite, coconut coir and vermiculite, with good air permeability preferred. You can choose any cutting container you want. You also need to prepare auxiliary items such as rooting powder and carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl for disinfection.

Cutting steps

Choose the right one for cuttings, neither too old nor too young.

Disinfect the scissors, select branches about 8-10 cm long, cut them with scissors, and clean the wounds.

Trim the shrub and remove excess leaves.

Soak the cut calamus in a liquid of carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl for disinfection and then dry it.

Soak in a little rooting powder to promote rooting.

Insert the rose cuttings into the prepared medium, do a good job of maintenance, and wait for the rose to take root.

How to quickly root rose cuttings

Pre-cutting treatment

Before rose cuttings, you should choose strong branches grown in the current year, which will be conducive to the survival of the rose cuttings.

Treat the roses before cuttings, soak them in some potassium permanganate solution or rooting powder to promote rooting.

Maintenance after cutting

After cuttings, it is necessary to ensure the appropriate cutting temperature. If the temperature is slightly higher, the rooting will be faster, but be careful not to let the temperature be too high to cause rot.

After cuttings, there are also requirements for water and light, and good maintenance management, reasonable watering, and ensuring appropriate light can ensure rapid rooting and improve the survival rate.

Rose cutting maintenance and cutting taboos

Cutting maintenance

Place the grafted roses in a shaded and cool place, avoiding direct sunlight in the early stages. As the plant grows, the demand for light will gradually increase, so the light should be gradually increased.

Water is very important for rose cuttings. Watering should be appropriate. Watering should be frequent and sufficient in the early stage to ensure that the leaves will not become dehydrated. After 4 to 5 days, you should slowly reduce the frequency and amount of watering.

It is necessary to ensure the appropriate temperature and keep it between 15-28 degrees. If it is too low, it will be difficult to germinate, and if it is too high, it will easily rot. This is a technical job.

After the rose has taken root, you can wait until the roots become older before transplanting them, which will increase the survival rate. When transplanting, try to keep the rose seedlings with soil.

Cutting taboo

The timing for rose cuttings must be well grasped. Spring and autumn are more suitable for rose cuttings. It is best not to do cuttings in summer because the temperature and humidity are high in summer, and the cuttings are easy to rot and difficult to survive.

Cuttings of rose seedlings should avoid strong light exposure, as the seedlings cannot withstand the sun, so pay attention to shade.

Try not to move the seedlings after cuttings. Water them thoroughly once and try not to move them thereafter. Also, do not pull out the rose seedlings frequently to check on them in order to observe their rooting. Otherwise, they will die before they take root.
