How long is the growth cycle of loquat?

Introduction to loquat growth

Loquat likes to grow in a warm climate and is suitable for growing in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. It is native to southeastern China and its suitable cultivation area is the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the areas to its south. In addition to China, it is also planted in Japan, the United States, India, Brazil, Israel, Turkey, Spain and other places.

Loquat growth cycle

Loquat likes light, is slightly shade-tolerant and slightly cold-resistant. It is suitable to be planted in land with deep, loose, fertile and rich in organic matter. The most suitable soil pH is 6.0. In a warm climate, loquat trees will grow fast.

The growth cycle of loquat is generally one year. It takes about a year from the time the plant begins to sprout to the time the plant harvests fruit, but its lifespan can reach 70-100 years.

Loquat growth rate

The growth process of loquat can be divided into four periods, namely the young fruit growth period, the rapid cell division period, the rapid fruit growth period and the maturity period. The growth rate of loquat is relatively fast, and it can usually be harvested about one or two months after fruiting.

Loquat growth cycle management

Generally speaking, the yield of loquat will vary depending on factors such as variety, planting area, and age of the tree. Usually the average yield of loquat per mu is about 6,000-8,000 jin, which is quite considerable.

Temperature Management

Loquat can grow normally in places where the annual average temperature is above 12℃, start to germinate above 10℃, and the most suitable temperature for pollen germination is around 20℃. However, if the air temperature or ground temperature reaches above 30℃, the growth of the branches, leaves and roots of the plant will stagnate.

Fertilization management

Generally speaking, from June to August each year, there is no need to apply nitrogen fertilizer to loquat, but you can appropriately increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. If the growth of vigorous branches cannot be controlled after pulling the branches in June-August and before the formation of flower buds, you can spray a mixture of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and boric acid on the leaves.
