How to keep radish seeds and how to collect seeds

How to save radish seeds

Radish seeds come from its fruit. You can save the seeds for yourself, select plants for planting, and adjust the plants. The radish tops will produce seeds after they bloom.

Radish seed collection

Radish will bloom flowers during the flowering period. If natural or artificial pollination is carried out during the flowering period and the pollination is successful, it will be able to bear fruit. After fruiting, its fruit will slowly grow and seeds will be produced inside the fruit. When the fruit is fully mature, the seeds will also mature.

Saving radish seeds

When storing radish seeds, you must pay attention to drying and moisture-proofing. It is best to store them in a cool and dry place, and pay attention to preventing insects and rodents.

Radish seed planting

Radish has strong adaptability to the environment and can be sown all year round. It is generally sown in spring from January to February and harvested in April. If cultivated in the open field with mulch covering, it can be sown in March and April and harvested in May and June. If cultivated in a small greenhouse with mulch covering, it can be sown in March, or in July in autumn and harvested in September.

Radishes can be sown in rows, spot sowing, or broadcast sowing. The seeds should be germinated in advance. If sown in rows, the row spacing should be 25 cm, the sowing depth should be 2 cm, and water should be slightly applied to keep the soil moist. If sown on spots, the spacing between holes should be 20 cm. Place 4-5 seeds in each hole and cover with 2 cm of soil. If sown by broadcasting, the seeds can be sown on rainy days when the temperature is above 10 degrees.
