Pepper pruning time

During the planting process, peppers need to be pruned, which can make them grow more vigorously and greatly increase their yield. Peppers need to be pruned in each growth cycle. Appropriate pruning is required in the early growth stage, vigorous stage, early flowering stage and other stages.

Pepper pruning method

1. When the pepper seedlings grow to about one foot high, you can top them. While keeping a few leaves, trim the upper part of the plant and trim off the excess leaves. This will allow the pepper seedlings to grow better. In the later stages of growth, try not to trim its leaves.

2. During the growth period of peppers, the branches need to be properly pruned, retaining 1 to 2 strong branches, and cutting off the old and weak branches of the peppers. This can reduce nutrient consumption, promote the growth of new branches, enhance ventilation and light transmittance, and reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.

3. If the peppers are growing well, the first few flowers should be cut off after they bloom. If the peppers bloom too early, they will bear fruit too early, which is not conducive to the later growth of the peppers. Proper pruning will make the fruits larger and of higher quality.

Notes on pruning peppers

Before pruning peppers, you should pay attention to disinfecting the tools to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria between different plants. After pruning, you can apply carbendazim solution to the wounds of the peppers, which has the effect of disinfection and sterilization, and is also conducive to wound healing.

After pruning the peppers, there is no need to water them. If the wound comes into contact with water, it will be infected with bacteria and affect its later recovery. After the pepper wounds heal, you can give them sufficient light, water and fertilizer, which is beneficial to the growth of branches, leaves, flowers and fruits.
