What fertilizer is good for growing green onions?

Fertilizer for growing green onions

Green onions like fertilizer. In order to increase the yield of green onions, it is still necessary to apply fertilizer in time, mainly applying compound fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Green onions absorb the most potassium, followed by nitrogen fertilizer, and the least phosphorus fertilizer. In addition, calcium, magnesium, manganese, boron, etc. also have a certain effect on the growth of green onions.

Green onion fertilizer

Before planting onions, base fertilizer can be applied. Generally, 2000 to 3000 kg of high-quality soil and fertilizer, yard manure and 40 to 60 kg of superphosphate are applied per mu as base fertilizer.

Topdressing of green onions

Green onions can be top-dressed 2-3 times. Nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer can be applied during the peak leaf stage and the early and middle stage of onion white formation. It is best to water once after fertilizing. Avoid large amounts of water and nitrogen flushing, otherwise the fertilizer will be washed away. In addition, if urea is spread on the surface in summer, the volatilization of nitrogen will cause seedling burn.

Fertilizer for green onion growth period

Organic fertilizers and quick-acting chemical fertilizers can be used during the growing period of green onions. Each time of topdressing, apply 4,000 kg of soil and miscellaneous fertilizers per 667 square meters, or apply 100-200 kg of cake fertilizer or 3,000 kg of kang hole soil. After application, immediately do a shallow hoe and water thoroughly.

Fertilizer for onion fruiting period

Scallions need to be fertilized during the fruit-bearing period. Apply about 20 kg of nitrogen fertilizer per 667 square meters. Water can be poured once after topdressing. At this time, the scallion whites will quickly gain weight and become full until harvest.

The correct way to fertilize green onions

Before sowing green onions, mix 20% of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers and all phosphorus fertilizers as base fertilizer and put them in the soil. The remaining 80% of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers should be used as topdressing, which should be done twice in mid-September and mid-to-late October.

Precautions for fertilizing green onions

The fertilization of green onions should be reasonable, and the application ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be coordinated. For example, the green onions produced in Zhangqiu, Shandong are particularly famous. In recent years, local farmers have applied an average of 40-50 kg of pure nitrogen and 10-15 kg of phosphorus pentoxide per mu of green onions. However, the input of potassium fertilizer is insufficient. Some farmers do not apply potassium fertilizer or apply a small amount of potassium, resulting in reduced yield and affected quality.
