1. Leaf shape

The leaves of pine and cypress are scaly, linear or needle-shaped, and grow oppositely, close to the branches. Its leaves are very small, some have thick hairs on them, and some are waxy. Its leaves are green and remain green even in winter, but the color is not as bright as in spring, summer and autumn. Because the temperature in winter is very low, it is difficult for chlorophyll to grow, so the leaves are somewhat green and reddish.

2. Morphological characteristics

It is an evergreen tree that is often used in gardens for ornamental purposes. When it has not yet grown to maturity, its crown is in the shape of a pyramid and its branches are mostly arranged in a whorl. When the seedlings grow out and the cotyledons unfold, solitary primary leaves appear and are arranged in a spiral shape.

3. Growth habits

The leaves of pine and cypress have a certain growth period. When they reach a certain age, they will fall off, but their growth period is relatively long, and they can usually live for 3-5 years. Generally speaking, when new leaves grow out, the old leaves will gradually fall off, so many people think that it will not shed leaves.
