Can Endless Summer be planted in the ground?

Endless summer can be planted in the ground or outdoors. If you grow it for viewing, it is definitely better to plant it in the ground. If you want to sell it, you can build a nursery, like a greenhouse, usually covered with non-woven fabric, and then potted it, divided into different specifications, and repotted regularly.

Planting Endless Summer and Winter

Ground-planted Endless Summer is a perennial plant that can survive the winter. To ensure the safety of the plant over the winter, the soil should be kept moist in the autumn and watering should be stopped when it freezes in the winter. Before the Endless Summer fully hibernates, the plant should be covered with sawdust, dead leaves, etc. to keep it warm.

Planting Endless Summer in the Ground

When growing Endless Summer, it needs 6 hours of light every day, at least 2-3 hours of light, and fertilizer should be applied once every 15 days during the growing season. Normally, wait until the soil is dry before watering. In winter, the temperature should not be lower than 5℃ and fertilization should be stopped. In addition, when planting and maintaining it in the ground, avoid wind vents and do not apply too much fertilizer.

Endless Summer planting method

1. Use soil

When growing Endless Summer, it is best to use sandy loam that is rich in organic humus (leaf mold) and has good drainage, because Endless Summer blooms blue flowers in acidic soil, can bloom blue and pink flowers at the same time in neutral soil, and blooms red flowers in alkaline soil.

2. Fertilization

Endless summer likes fertilizer, but avoids too much fertilizer. Excessive fertilizer will result in only leaves growing and few flowers. In spring and early summer, ground-planted seedlings should be applied with good quality slow-release fertilizer.

3. Watering

Endless Summer has fleshy fibrous roots, so remember not to allow water to accumulate. Hydrangeas prefer well-drained, moist soil. Do not water them too much, as this will cause root rot and more leaves than flowers.

Precautions for planting Endless Summer

1. When fertilizing the plants, be sure to pay attention not to apply too much fertilizer, otherwise it will lead to fewer flowers.
2. Pay attention to the amount of water. It should not be too much or too little. Endless Summer Hydrangea is afraid of both waterlogging and excessive drought.

3. Avoid dense planting, otherwise the air circulation will be poor, and powdery mildew is prone to occur in hot and humid seasons. If excessive watering causes water accumulation, it will cause the fleshy roots to rot and the stems and leaves to turn black and rot.
