How and when to plant chrysanthemum

Time and month for planting chrysanthemum

It is generally best to cultivate Chinese chrysanthemum in spring and autumn. In the south, the climate is mild and the rainfall is abundant, so it can be cultivated in spring, autumn and winter.

Chrysanthemum can be planted in spring, but if the sowing time is too early, the temperature will be low and there will be a late spring cold snap. After sowing, you need to cover it with plastic film, compact the soil, and keep it warm. Wait until the temperature rises and the seedlings emerge, then remove the film. When planting in protected areas at temperatures above 25 degrees, open the vents to let in air.

To plant Chinese cabbage in autumn, you can choose July to September. Germinate the selected seeds in advance, cover them with a thin layer of soil after sowing, provide a temperature of 17-20 degrees, and start watering after the seedlings emerge.

Planting Chrysanthemum in Winter

In the southern region, the weather is warm and chrysanthemum can be planted in winter, but it needs to be moved into a greenhouse for maintenance and attention must be paid to insulation in the greenhouse.

How to plant chrysanthemum

There are four main steps to growing Chinese chrysanthemum: site selection and preparation, sowing method, weeding and fertilization, temperature and water. Chinese chrysanthemum prefers a cool and mild climate environment. It can grow better when the soil moisture is maintained at 80%. It can be planted every year under suitable climatic conditions.

1. Site selection and land preparation: Chrysanthemum chrysanthemum is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained and moist land. Before sowing, the land needs to be prepared first, and fertilizer should be applied after loosening the soil to ensure the fertility of the soil.

2. Sowing method: Chrysanthemum can be sown directly into the soil evenly at a certain density. It can also be transplanted, that is, to spread the seeds on other land, wait until it grows seedlings, and then plant it in the field.

3. Weeding and fertilizing: Start watering the chrysanthemum when it just pops up. Weeding can be done after about 5-10 cm. At the same time, you can also pull out the plants with lower density and sell them or eat them yourself. After weeding, you should apply the final fertilizer to ensure the nutritional supply and freshness of the chrysanthemum.

4. Temperature and moisture: Chrysanthemum chrysanthemum prefers a warm and humid environment. If sown in winter and early spring, it is best to grow it in a greenhouse, which can keep warm and moist. However, when the temperature is too high, ventilation should be opened in time, otherwise it will burn. In addition, the soil should be kept moist, and watering should be done basically every few days.
