How long does the lotus bloom?

Flowering period

The lotus flower has bright and colorful colors and is a very beautiful ornamental flower. The lotus can bloom all year round, with its peak flowering period being between February and May. A flower can remain open for 8-9 days during its blooming period.

Flowering period regulation

Now that we know the flowering period of lotus, the question is, how can we artificially control the flowering period of lotus?

We can control the flowering period of lotus to during New Year's Day and Spring Festival, so that it will bloom during these two time periods.

sowing

The best time to sow and propagate lotus is between late August and early September in autumn, because the temperature is balanced and neither too hot nor too cold at this time;

When the lotus seedlings have grown out and the leaves have grown to 2-3 true leaves, they can be moved into medium-sized flowerpots for continued care, and then placed in an open field in the sun, with general watering management required.

temperature

When winter comes, you can move the pot indoors for maintenance, keeping the temperature at around 15℃-25℃. Note that the minimum temperature must not be lower than 8℃.

Watering and fertilization management

The lotus should be watered moderately. Too dry will cause the leaves to turn yellow, and too much water will cause the soil to become too wet and rot.

Therefore, water and fertilize reasonably. You can apply 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once every 10 days. Lotus is not suitable for excessive nitrogen fertilizer. Too much nitrogen fertilizer will cause the plant's branches and buds to grow too long.

prune

The stems and vines of lotus will grow indefinitely, so when the lotus enters the initial flowering period, it is necessary to spray the leaves with 100PPM paclobutrazol solution to prevent the stems and vines of lotus from growing indefinitely.

The effect will be seen three days after spraying. The main vine will become thicker, the growth of the top vine will slow down, and the flowers on the side vines will bloom one after another, thus achieving the control of the flowering period.
