Raspberry Growing Conditions

Raspberry likes warm and humid environment, is not resistant to direct sunlight, and is suitable for growing in bright scattered light. It has strong adaptability to soil, but the best soil is fertile, well-drained, has strong water and fertilizer retention capacity, is rich in organic matter, and is slightly acidic to neutral sandy loam. It can grow in red soil and purple soil.

Raspberry growing temperature

Raspberries prefer a warm environment. The average temperature during cultivation should be maintained at around 15-20℃. They have low environmental requirements, so small changes will have no effect.

The growth process of raspberries

Raspberry has a short growth cycle and easily enters the peak fruit-bearing period. Generally, it takes 2 years of maintenance to see fruit, 3 years to produce a bumper crop, 4-5 years to have the highest yield, and the fruiting period is about 15 years. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is June-July. New buds sprout in the early stage, and then leaves grow slowly. Flower buds are formed in the axils of new shoots, and then they bloom and bear fruit.

Raspberry planting time and method

1. Planting time: The planting time for raspberries is in spring or autumn, March-April in spring and October-November in autumn. The survival rate will be higher if raspberries are planted under suitable climate conditions. In addition, if planted in spring and autumn, management is relatively simple. After planting in spring, it will enter a vigorous growth period. After planting in autumn, it will be winter after the seedling period, and the resistance of fruit trees will be improved.

2. Planting method: Before planting raspberries, the land needs to be prepared and fertilized. Deeply plow the soil, then apply farmyard manure, level and fine the soil, select strong seedlings for planting. The seedlings should have good plant shape, strong branches and leaves, and well-developed root systems. Plant them in rows with a spacing of 50 cm × 100 cm. The spacing between large seedlings should be large, and the spacing between small seedlings should be small. Water the roots in time after planting.

3. Field management: Combine loosening the soil with weeding, and then watering and fertilizing. In spring, ensure that there is sufficient moisture in the soil. In summer, increase the frequency of watering, but the amount of water should not be too much. In autumn, reduce watering appropriately. In spring, apply compound fertilizer once every half a month. Also apply top dressing during the fruit growing period to promote fruit growth and improve the quality of the fruit.
