Does Aconite need root trimming?

When planting aconite, it is necessary to prune the roots, tip the plants, and pull out the buds, because the roots are too developed and if they are not handled properly it will seriously affect the respiration of the root system and even the growth of the plant.

The roots of the aconite just bought online need to be trimmed. When it grows to about 15 cm, proper root pruning is enough. If it is hydroponically grown, we need to trim the rotten roots in the water in time to promote the growth of other roots.

Pruning the roots of aconite and potting it

After preparing the flowerpot and soil, you can remove the plant from the flowerpot. You need to use a shovel to circle around the flowerpot first. This will loosen the soil and make it easier to remove the flowerpot. Tilt the flowerpot to the side and slowly take the plant out.

The old soil at the roots should be removed, and appropriate pruning should be carried out to remove rotten and old roots, leaving healthy roots. Then fill the flowerpot with soil, plant, compact the soil, and keep the soil properly moist.

Aconite root washing treatment

After the roots of the aconite are trimmed, they can be soaked in a carbendazim solution for sterilization and disinfection, and then washed clean. After the roots of the aconite are trimmed, spread them out in a cool and sheltered place, and dry them for 7-15 days before planting them in pots.

Maintenance of Aconite after root pruning

1. Watering should be timely to avoid dry soil from causing harm to the growth of aconite. Stop watering in the rainy season and drain the water in time after heavy rain.

2. Aconite needs sufficient light conditions when growing, and an environment with full sunlight and facing the sun is preferred, but it should avoid strong sunlight exposure, so shade and sun protection measures should be taken in the hot season.
