Winter radish planting time

Winter radish is a type of radish, also known as radish and radish. It is a herbaceous plant of the cruciferous family and the genus Raphanus, and is a common vegetable.

Winter radish is usually sown in early to mid-September in autumn. The suitable growth temperature for winter radish seedlings is 20~25 degrees, and the suitable temperature for fleshy root swelling is 13~18 degrees. Sowing too late will affect the growth of leaf clusters and reduce yield.

Winter radish sowing method

1. Winter radish can be sown by broadcasting or in high-bed row sowing. A few days before sowing, the soil can be deep plowed and dried, and some decomposed organic fertilizer, urea, superphosphate, and potassium sulfate can be applied as base fertilizer. Then the soil should be raked and leveled, leaving no large clods to avoid affecting emergence.

2. Depending on the variety of winter radish you are planting, you can choose to plant in double or single rows on high ridges. For long-root varieties, the plant spacing should be about 35 cm, and the row spacing should be about 45 cm. For round-root varieties, the row spacing should be 35 cm, and the plant spacing should be about 20 cm. Sow 1-2 seeds in each hole, cover them with a layer of soil, and compact them.

3. When sowing winter radish, you must always pay attention to the soil moisture conditions. After sowing, try to keep the soil moist. If the weather is relatively dry, you need to water it in time, but no water accumulation should occur. This can promote germination and full seedling growth.

Winter radish ripe for harvest

Areas at an altitude of 800-1200 meters will start sowing winter radish in April and May, and harvest in June and July. Areas with slightly higher altitudes will sow in May to July and harvest in July to September. The yield of winter radish will be affected by the planting site, but the general yield per mu is 3500-4000 kilograms.
