How to get seedless watermelon seeds

The seeds of seedless watermelon grow inside the fruit. Its seeds are derived from other varieties of watermelon through induced mutation and hybridization. Its growth goes through the seedling stage and the flowering and fruiting stage, but it has no reproductive ability itself and generally does not need to be saved for seed.

Seedless watermelons are propagated through processed tetraploids, which require artificial hybridization every year, so there is no need to save seeds yourself, and it is impossible to save seeds.

What do seedless watermelon seeds look like?

Seedless watermelon refers to those watermelons with very few seeds in the fruit. The seeds are small in number, small in size, oval in shape, and mostly white or black in color. It requires a tetraploid watermelon as the female parent and a diploid watermelon as the male parent.

How to plant seedless watermelon seeds

Generally speaking, seedless watermelon seeds cannot be directly spread and reproduced, and need to be artificially hybridized and reproduced before they can be planted.

1. Seed germination: First air the seedless watermelon seeds for about 3 days, then soak and scrub them, place the cracked seeds on a clean warm towel, and then put the towel and seeds in a constant temperature box for germination.

2. Sowing: Seedless watermelon can be sown as long as the temperature is above 14℃. Place the germinated seeds with the buds facing down in the soil, then cover them with a layer of sifted fine soil, spread the ground film, and cover them with an arch shed.
