Cherry radish planting time

Cherry radish is a small radish among the four-season radishes. It is called cherry radish because its appearance is similar to cherries. It is generally planted in three crops a year, namely summer, summer-autumn and autumn-winter. The spring-summer crop is sown in mid-March and harvested in late April to early May, while the summer-autumn crop is generally sown in mid-August and harvested in early to mid-September. The autumn-winter crop is sown in late September to early October and begins to be harvested in mid-to-late November.

Cherry radish sowing method

There are several ways to grow cherry radish:

Greenhouse cultivation: Cucumbers grown in a heated greenhouse or solar greenhouse are generally sown in mid-October and harvested in late November.

Greenhouse cultivation: Cultivated in a greenhouse, generally sowing in early to mid-March and harvesting in late April, belongs to the spring and summer crop.

1. Variety selection: When choosing a variety, you should decide based on market requirements. In Beijing, people generally choose fleshy, spherical roots, such as Germany's Early Red, which has a growing period of 25-30 days and strong adaptability.

2. Land preparation and ridge making: Because cherry radish grows relatively quickly, the soil must be loose, fertile, and well permeable. Before land preparation, sufficient organic base fertilizer must be applied, otherwise it will lead to slow growth.

3. Sowing: Because radish is relatively cold-resistant, it can be sown when the temperature is above 8℃. When planting, you can use germination sowing or dry seed direct sowing.

Key points for planting cherry radish

Temperature: Cherry radish generally grows best at a temperature of 5-25°C. The most suitable temperature for germination is 20-25°C, and growth will be slow below 66°C.

Light: Cherry radish has relatively high requirements for light. During the growth process, there must be sufficient light, otherwise its quality will deteriorate.

Water: Sufficient water supply must be ensured during the growth of cherry radish. The water demand is not high during the germination and seedling stages, as long as enough water is ensured for the seeds to germinate.

Soil: Cherry radish requires deep soil, strong water retention, good drainage, loose and breathable sandy loam.

Cherry radish ripe for harvest

If the temperature conditions are suitable, cherry radish can be harvested about 30 days after sowing. If the temperature is lower, it will take 50 to 60 days to harvest. Therefore, the most important thing when planting is to ensure a temperature environment suitable for its growth, so as to ensure its yield.
