What are the methods and precautions for breeding Margarite?

Margaret Introduction

Marguerite, also known as wood chrysanthemum, wood daisy, and French daisy, is a plant of the Asteraceae family, genus Wood Chrysanthemum. It is up to 1 meter tall and most of its branches are woody.

The main method of propagation of Margaret is cuttings. Common varieties include pink spray, pink surprise, pink giant, pink single petal, big flower candy, big goose yellow, color change, white hydrangea, meteor 2010, lemon, and red candy.

Margarite breeding method

Margarite likes a cool growing environment. When the temperature exceeds 35℃ in summer, it will cause leaf fall. It needs proper shading. When the temperature is below 0℃ in winter, it needs to overwinter indoors. It requires fertile and well-drained soil.

Margaret can choose loose, fertile and well-drained soil, or mix black mountain soil and peat soil to make nutrient soil. Generally, apply enough base fertilizer during planting and no fertilizer is applied at other times.

Margarite likes light and needs to be kept in a sunny place with more than 4 hours of light a day. Except for the hot summer, it needs shade. It can bloom well in full light in other seasons.

Watering method

For daily watering of Margaret, "water when dry, and water thoroughly when watering". In summer, when the temperature exceeds 35℃, the leaves will wither and enter a semi-dormant state. You can reduce watering appropriately and just keep the soil in the pot moist.

Fertilization method

Margaret needs to be repotted every year. Apply sufficient base fertilizer and slow-release fertilizer when repotting. Apply thin fertilizers frequently during maintenance, apply thin liquid compound fertilizer once a week, and apply more phosphorus fertilizer before flowering.

Pruning methods

Margaret needs to be pruned and topped frequently to make it bloom. Whenever a new branch grows six or seven leaves, top it once to promote new branches. Stop pinching and topping when it enters the bud formation stage. Margaret is a perennial herb. The branches will become woody when mature. Every May, it begins to enter the summer dormancy period and needs heavy pruning. All branches that are more than 20 cm above the ground should be cut off.

Margarite breeding precautions

If you want to propagate Margarite, the cutting method is recommended because the success rate is very high. Just cut a piece of its flower branch and insert it into the soil, and it will easily survive.
