When is the best time to sow parsley?

Parsley sowing time

Parsley is a plant of the genus Parsley in the Apiaceae family. Parsley can generally be sown in spring and autumn every year. The specific suitable time for sowing is late March and mid-to-late July. The climate in these two time periods is relatively suitable, and the temperature and humidity are also suitable, so the survival rate of sowing is relatively high.

How to sow parsley

1. Seed soaking and germination

The skin of parsley seeds is thick and hard, and it is difficult to absorb water, so the seeds need to be soaked before sowing. After soaking for 12-14 hours, rinse with clean water, and gently rub off the old skin with your hands, then wrap it with a wet towel and put it in 20-22℃ for 4-6 days to germinate. When the seeds turn white, they can be sown.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

Seedlings can be grown in a seedbed. The seedbed should be located in a cool, well-drained place. Apply decomposed farmyard manure per acre and mix it evenly with the soil. Sow 2-2.5g per square meter. Seedlings will emerge about 7-10 days after sowing. When sowing in summer, use a shade net or a shade shed to cool, moisturize and prevent rain.

Parsley ripe for harvest

Generally speaking, it takes about four months for celery to mature and be harvested from seed sowing. It is usually sown in early spring in January or February, and then transplanted in March or April, so that it can be harvested in May. The time can continue until about July.
