What is the best fertilizer for cherries?

Cherry fertilization time

It is best to fertilize cherries 3-4 times a year. Generally, base fertilizer should be applied in early autumn in August or September. Fertilization can increase the nutrient accumulation of the tree, which is conducive to flowering and fruiting. Topdressing should also be done before budding and when the fruit is developing. The first application is quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, and the second application is special fertilizer for fruit trees or nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer.

What fertilizer to use for cherry

The pre-flowering fertilizer for cherries is mainly phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers to promote the germination of flower buds and the growth of spring shoots. Fruit-enhancing fertilizers should also be applied, mainly nitrogen and potassium fertilizers, with phosphorus fertilizers to supplement tree nutrition and improve fruit quality. Top dressing should be mainly with quick-acting potassium fertilizers before the fruit colors, which can promote fruit enlargement.

Cherry fertilization method

1. Fertilize cherries in time after harvesting to promote tree growth. Use 1 kg of balanced compound fertilizer and 2 kg of Nobondilong biological organic fertilizer for each plant, and spray liquid fertilizer on the leaves.

2. Cherries should be fertilized for the second time in September and October in autumn. Apply 2 kg of nitric-sulfur based compound fertilizer, 3 kg of Nobon Dilong biological organic fertilizer, and 1 kg of flower and fruit fertilizer to each plant. This time, the fertilizer needs to be applied in trenches with a depth of about 15-20 cm.

3. Cherries need to be fertilized for the third time before blooming in the spring of the following year. Nitrogen fertilizer should be used as the main fertilizer. Use Guocai No. 1 to apply to the stems, and spray Cuikang Huaguoling liquid fertilizer on the leaves.

Notes on cherry fertilization

In autumn every year, cherry should be tilled and basal fertilizer should be applied, and well-rotted organic fertilizer should be applied in time. Its root system is shallow in the soil, but the horizontal roots grow well. Fertilization can be done by applying fertilizer in radial furrows or concentrated holes.
