What fertilizer is suitable for tomatoes?

Tomato fertilization time

The main method of fertilizer control is adopted from planting tomatoes to fruiting. If the plants are not seriously lacking in fertilizer, additional fertilizer is generally not applied, otherwise the plants will grow too tall. The principle of fertilizing before wintering is to apply fertilizer once for every two waterings.

After tomatoes are planted and the seedlings have grown, they need to be fertilized in time to promote the rapid growth of stems and leaves. After the first bunch of fruits swells, top dressing should be applied to promote the expansion of the fruits.

What fertilizer to use for tomatoes

1. When fertilizing tomatoes, the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers is 1:1:2. Apply 3000-5000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per mu, and then apply 25 kg of superphosphate and 20 kg of potassium fertilizer.

2. During the growing period of tomatoes, use 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution for foliar topdressing. This will help promote fruit ripening and increase yield. Pay attention to drainage during the rainy season.

Tomato fertilization method

1. Apply base fertilizer : Tomatoes require a lot of fertilizer, so apply enough base fertilizer during planting. Apply 5,000-6,000 kg of farmyard manure, 10 kg of ammonium phosphate and urea, and 80 kg of superphosphate per mu.

2. Top dressing in stages : Top dressing should be applied in time during the growth stage of tomatoes. Farmyard manure should be applied one week after the fixed value to promote faster growth of seedlings. Organic fertilizer should be applied when the first bunch of fruits begins to swell, and nitrogen fertilizer should be applied when harvesting.

3. Apply foliar fertilizer : Apply foliar fertilizer in time during the growth period of tomatoes. Spray twice during the seedling stage, once in the seedling stage and once in the strong seedling stage, to replenish nutrients in time.

Tomato fertilization precautions

In tomato production, while applying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, trace element fertilizers should also be applied in a timely manner. For example, calcium supplementation during the young fruit stage can prevent navel rot. When the temperature is low, magnesium supplementation can reduce plant chlorosis. Boron supplementation during the flowering period can increase the fruit set rate.
