Cultivation methods and maintenance of old red lotus piles

How to grow red lotus into an old pile

If we want to quickly grow the red heart lotus into an old stump shape, we can water it more appropriately in the early stage, keep the soil slightly moist, and let the red heart lotus be in a slightly elongated state. In this case, its stem will grow longer and thinner, and it will be easy to deform and form a cliff pile.

However, once the length of the pole reaches the effect we expect, we must start controlling water, and be ruthless. After the soil in the pot is completely dry, water it three to five days or even a week later, so that the old leaves at the bottom can dry up and fall off, and the pole can become dry due to lack of water, and the degree of lignification can be increased. This will achieve our goal of accelerating the formation of old stumps of red heart lotus.

The light is weak in the early stage, but it cannot be lacking. We must ensure about 4 hours of light every day. When it grows to the size we expect, we can expose it to the sun as much as possible every day. Full-day light is best. Use strong light to stimulate the lignification of the epidermis of the red heart lotus branches and form a protective layer.

Cultivation method of old red lotus pile

Light is very important for the coloring, head blooming and formation of old red heart lotus stumps. Except for the hottest noon in summer, when certain shading measures are needed, the red heart lotus should receive more sunlight at other times.

Red Heart Lotus is relatively drought-resistant and does not require much water. Therefore, when watering the Red Heart Lotus, we need to follow the principle of watering when it is dry. In summer and winter, we need to control the amount of watering to maintain its normal growth, suitable temperature, and large temperature difference.

In terms of using pots, when caring for old red heart lotus stumps, be sure to choose red pottery pots with good drainage and air permeability. It is best to use coarse-grained soil for cultivation.

Maintenance of old red lotus piles

Once the leaves of the red heart lotus begin to fade, it means that the leaves have been contaminated and have begun to show signs of disease. At this time, these leaves must be removed in time, otherwise the diseased area will spread rapidly and even endanger the survival of the entire plant.
