There are two sources of coriander seeds. One is to keep them yourself, and the other is to buy them from a seed store. The fruit bends outward when ripe. The fruit is spherical and the ventral side of the endosperm is concave.

After overwintering, coriander will bloom and bear fruit in the spring of the following year. The fruits of coriander are mature around May, and the seed pods left behind usually burst naturally. Coriander is sown before the beginning of autumn every year, and laid out on flat beds for the winter. After the seeds turn green in the spring of the following year, the covering debris is cleared away, and appropriate fertilizer and watering are applied. Some can also be kept for food. The remaining seeds are generally mature around the summer harvest. After drying and crushing, the debris can be removed to get new coriander seeds.

1. Growth process

Coriander seeds have a relatively hard shell on the outside, and the germination rate is very low if they are directly sown, so we need to rub the shell open first. The common practice is to soak the seeds in warm water for ten hours, and then you can easily press open the shell. Generally speaking, they can be sown and planted in spring, summer and autumn, and seedlings will emerge in about ten days.

2. Sowing time

Coriander can be planted at any time except in winter. The best time to plant is May and June, when the temperature has risen, which is very suitable for seed germination.

3. Planting method

Before sowing coriander seeds, you can wash off the surface peel, then soak them in clean water for a day, wrap them in wet cotton cloth, and place them in a warm environment for germination. They will sprout after 7-8 days, and you can sow them after all the sprouts emerge.

When sowing coriander, be sure to wet the soil first, then spread the seeds evenly, cover them with a thin layer of soil, and finally cover them with a layer of film. When 3-4 leaves grow, remove the film for ventilation.
