What crops are suitable for growing on barren land?

Barren land is generally the opposite of fertile land. There are few nutrients in the soil, so it is more suitable for growing crops that are tolerant to barrenness and have low soil requirements. However, base fertilizer usually needs to be added before planting.

There are not many crops that can be grown on barren land. The more common ones are sorghum, soybeans, rapeseed, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, sesame, onions, sweet potatoes, Sudan grass, etc.

1. Soybeans

Soybeans can be grown in barren land because this type of plant has a certain nitrogen-fixing function and has relatively low requirements for fertilizer. Watering should be done before planting to avoid insufficient water during the growth period.

2. Cauliflower

Cauliflower has strong adaptability to soil, so it can also be grown in poor land. This crop has a well-developed root system and a suitable growth temperature of 20-25℃. It has strict requirements for water and is neither water-resistant nor drought-resistant.

3. Rapeseed

Rapeseed is a typical green manure crop that can be planted in poor soil. It not only grows well but can also be used to fertilize the soil. However, before planting, it needs to be combined with tillage and weeding.
