1. Cut branchesIf you want to use this branch for planting, you must first cut suitable branches. If you have a mother plant at home, you can cut it from it. Choose 1-2 year old branches, with full and plump bud tips and shorter and thicker nodes. Avoid using young branches or flowering branches. If you don't have a mother plant at home, you can cut it from somewhere else. Try to choose one with buds on it to ensure a good success rate. After cutting it, divide it into several sections, each section must have a bud point. 2. Prepare the substrateIt is an epiphytic plant, so it has very high requirements for air permeability. Soil cannot be used as a cutting medium because its poor permeability can easily cause the lower end of the branches to rot. You can use sphagnum moss or bark to maintain the moisture content and keep it in a relatively moist state. 3. Cutting operationInsert the stem segment into the substrate, but not all of it. Leave a section on top, or place it flat on top and only press the last end in. Because it already has sufficient water content, there is no need to add water after the cuttings are completed. Just place it in a semi-shaded place and use a small spray bottle to spray water on it to keep it moist. |
