How to divide the pink palm

How to divide the pink palm

Time for dividing pink palm

The flowers of the pink anthurium are unique, colorful, and highly ornamental. They are suitable for division in spring and autumn, as long as the temperature is kept above 20 degrees. However, after division in autumn, the temperature will quickly enter the lower winter, so flower lovers in the north are not recommended to divide the plants in autumn. It is best to divide them in April and May.

Method of propagation of pink palm by division

Pink palm is often propagated by division, which is combined with spring repotting. Use sharp scissors to trim the side branches with 3-4 leaves and aerial roots, and plant them in new pots.

Steps for dividing pink palm

1. Select healthy side branches from the pink palm, and it is best to keep 3-4 leaves on the side branches. Cut off the aerial roots together with the side branches. Do not choose side branches that may damage the mother plant, otherwise it may affect the growth of the pink palm.

2. Soak the cut ends of the side branches in potassium permanganate solution to disinfect them and prevent them from being infected by fungi after division. Place them in a cool place after soaking and wait for them to dry. Note that the cut ends should be kept as smooth as possible.

3. Plant the rooted side branches in the prepared small flower pots and soil, then water with thin fertilizer water every 2 days to keep the soil slightly moist. After a period of time, the pink anthurium will grow true leaves, and then you can manage it normally according to the cultivation method of the pink anthurium.

Since pink palm prefers a high temperature and humid environment, the temperature should be controlled between 20-25 degrees during reproduction. If the temperature is too low, it will not only affect the success rate of reproduction, but also affect the growth of the mother plant. Therefore, before reproduction, you should choose a season with relatively suitable temperature.
